Focus Chemical is an established and forward-thinking player in the industrial chemical formulation sector. We are currently seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate Junior Chemist to join our expanding Research & Development (R&D) and Quality Assurance team based in Bukit Minyak, Penang.

As a Junior Chemist, you will be directly involved in the creation, testing, and enhancement of cutting-edge coating and paste formulations. Working in our state-of-the-art laboratory, you will gain hands-on experience in color matching, wet sample preparation, and quality testing for various high-growth industries including rubber gloves, industrial tapes, and protective coatings.

Tanggung Jawab
- Develop, refine, and optimize innovative coating and paste formulations in line with client specifications.
- Prepare precise wet chemical samples and perform standard physical and chemical testing.
- Conduct accurate color-matching and benchmarking for new and existing product lines (coatings, gloves, tapes, etc.).
- Document and maintain meticulous records of formulation details, raw material specs, and test results.
- Collaborate closely with production and quality control departments to troubleshoot scale-up issues and ensure consistent product quality.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety standards, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
- Assist senior chemists in research projects and in evaluating alternative raw materials to drive cost-efficiency and quality.
Kualifikasi
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- Fresh graduates are highly encouraged to apply; previous internship experience in a chemical laboratory is an added advantage.
- Basic theoretical or practical knowledge of formulation science, coatings, adhesives, or color-matching techniques.
- Strong analytical mindset, keen attention to detail, and good problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in standard MS Office applications (Excel, Word) for data entry and report generation.
- Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to speak Mandarin is a plus to liaise with regional clients.
- Proactive attitude, willing to learn, and capable of working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
