The National University of Singapore (NUS) is consistently ranked among the world's leading research universities. The GEMs Lab (Growth and Engineering of Materials) within the Department of Physics is at the forefront of nanotechnology, specifically focusing on the synthesis of two-dimensional (2D) materials and their application in next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices.

We are seeking several highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researchers to join our dynamic and collaborative team. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive cutting-edge research involving the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) growth of novel 2D crystals, including Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDs), hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN), and their heterostructures. You will be responsible for the full cycle of material synthesis, comprehensive characterization, and device integration.

Successful candidates will gain direct access to world-class facilities, including the NUS Centre for Advanced 2D Materials (CA2DM) and the state-of-the-art T-Lab cleanroom. You will collaborate closely with PhD students, research fellows, and leading principal investigators, contributing to high-impact publications and major grant applications. This role provides an ideal platform for launching a distinguished career in academia or the semiconductor/nanotechnology industry in Asia's premier research hub.

Tanggung Jawab

  • Design, execute, and optimize experiments for the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) synthesis of novel two-dimensional materials.
  • Perform comprehensive characterization of synthesized materials using Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
  • Develop and refine micro/nano-fabrication processes in a cleanroom environment for the production of functional electronic and optoelectronic devices.
  • Methodically analyze experimental data, maintain detailed laboratory records, and troubleshoot complex synthesis and fabrication challenges.
  • Prepare, draft, and submit high-quality research manuscripts for publication in top-tier, peer-reviewed international journals.
  • Present research findings and progress updates at international conferences, group meetings, and workshops.
  • Actively mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students, fostering a productive and collaborative lab environment.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research grant proposals, progress reports, and collaborative projects.

Kualifikasi

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven, hands-on experience in the synthesis of 2D materials (e.g., TMDs, graphene, hBN) via CVD method.
  • Strong proficiency in materials characterization techniques (Raman, PL, AFM, SEM, TEM, XPS).
  • Substantial experience in cleanroom-based micro/nano-fabrication and device processing is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent and demonstrable track record of research publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently on complex problems and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary, international team.
  • Highly self-motivated, creative, and dedicated to advancing the fundamental understanding and application of 2D materials.
