Are you a passionate researcher with a deep interest in precision engineering and light-matter interaction? The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is looking for a talented Research Engineer to join the National Metrology Centre (NMC) within our Optical Lab. In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving innovation in optical metrology, supporting high-precision industrial applications, and pushing the boundaries of physical science.
You will work alongside world-class scientists to develop novel measurement techniques, maintain national measurement standards, and conduct applied research that impacts Singapore’s advanced manufacturing sector. Tanggung Jawab
- Develop and refine optical measurement systems and calibration standards to ensure national measurement traceability.
- Conduct high-level experimental research in optics, laser physics, and photonics to address complex industrial challenges.
- Analyze experimental data using advanced statistical methods and computational modeling to derive precise conclusions.
- Design and fabricate optical setups, including component integration and prototyping for specialized metrology applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technical consultancy and solutions to industry partners.
- Document research methodologies and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals or technical reports.
- Maintain and troubleshoot high-precision optical instrumentation and lab equipment.
Kualifikasi
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of classical optics, interferometry, and laser technology.
- Proficiency in data analysis and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW.
- Demonstrated experience in a research laboratory environment, particularly with optical bench alignment and measurement instrumentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on multifaceted research projects.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both scientific and industrial stakeholders.
- Familiarity with metrology standards (ISO/IEC 17025) is considered a distinct advantage.
