Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow (Inorganic Materials) to join a pioneering research team dedicated to enhancing the durability of steel and nickel alloys against hydrogen embrittlement. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment, leveraging stateâofâtheâart laboratory facilities to investigate the fundamental mechanisms of hydrogen interaction with metallic microstructures. Your responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, synthesizing novel inorganic compounds, and employing advanced characterization techniques to correlate microstructure with mechanical performance.
Key aspects of the role:
- Develop and apply innovative processing routes to improve hydrogen resistance of structural alloys.
- Utilize and integrate analytical tools such as SEM, XRD, TEM, and spectroscopy to elucidate material behavior.
- Interpret experimental data using statistical and computational methods, and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Produce highâquality scientific manuscripts, reports, and presentations for both academic and industry audiences.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students and contribute to the continuous improvement of lab protocols.
- Collaborate closely with industry partners and external research institutions to accelerate technology transfer.

- Design and conduct experiments to investigate hydrogen embrittlement mechanisms in advanced steel and nickelâbased alloys.
- Synthesize and characterize inorganic materials using techniques such as SEM, XRD, TEM, and Raman spectroscopy.
- Analyze data, interpret results, and document findings in technical reports and peerâreviewed publications.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams, including mechanical engineers and computational modelers.
- Mentor graduate students and contribute to the development of laboratory protocols.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensure safety compliance, and manage project timelines.
Kualifikasi
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Proven research experience in inorganic materials synthesis and characterization.
- Familiarity with hydrogen embrittlement phenomena and corrosion science.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Origin, Python, MATLAB).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for scientific writing and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic research environment.
