A*STAR's Bioinformatics Institute (BII) is at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence with biomedical research. We are seeking a dedicated Research Officer to join our multidisciplinary team tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through cutting-edge AI for lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) management. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply Large Language Models (LLMs) and sophisticated data engineering techniques to some of the most pressing challenges in global health.
You will work closely with a diverse group of researchers, bioinformaticians, and clinicians to design and implement AI-driven solutions that analyze complex clinical and genomic datasets. - Design and develop scalable data pipelines for processing large-scale clinical and genomic datasets.
- Implement and fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) for natural language processing tasks in the biomedical domain.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers to identify AI-driven solutions for antimicrobial resistance management.
- Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering to support machine learning model development.
- Conduct experiments, evaluate model performance, and iterate on approaches to achieve state-of-the-art results.
- Document workflows, methodologies, and results for internal reporting and scientific publications.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in LLMs, data engineering, and AI for healthcare.
- Contribute to the preparation of research papers, presentations, and grant proposals.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in software development and data engineering, with proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and LLM APIs.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database management (SQL, NoSQL).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Knowledge of biomedical data, clinical ontologies, or healthcare informatics is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
