SPH Media is seeking a meticulous and creative Copy Editor / Sub-Editor to join the vibrant team at tabla!, a premier English-language publication under the Tamil Murasu stable dedicated to the Indian community in Singapore. This is a pivotal role where precision meets storytelling, ensuring that our content resonates across both traditional print and fast-paced digital platforms.
As a Sub-Editor, you will be the final line of defense for quality control, transforming raw copy into polished, engaging, and error-free journalism. You will work closely with reporters and photographers to package stories that capture the cultural nuances and interests of our diverse readership. Whether it is craftily penning a viral headline for our website or ensuring the perfect layout for our weekly print edition, your contribution will directly impact the brand's reputation for excellence.

- Edit, sub-edit, and proofread articles for print and digital platforms to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to house style.
- Rewrite headlines, captions, and leads to maximize engagement and optimize for SEO in digital formats.
- Fact-check all content to maintain journalistic integrity and prevent legal or ethical issues.
- Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure aesthetic and logical page layouts.
- Manage content flow under tight deadlines to ensure timely publication of weekly print issues and daily digital updates.
- Liaise with journalists to provide feedback and guidance on story structure and tone.
- Curate and adapt content specifically for social media and mobile-first audiences.
- Stay updated on community trends and news relevant to the Indian diaspora to provide contextual editing.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English Literature, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a newsroom or professional publishing environment as a copy editor or sub-editor.
- Exceptional command of the English language with a keen eye for grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Strong understanding of the Singaporean and expatriate Indian community culture and interests.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and digital Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and social media content trends.
