Role Overview: As Assistant Director / Senior Assistant Director, Tech-Biz Development, you will be a key member of the MedTech leadership team, responsible for driving technology commercialization and industry engagement. You will identify and evaluate new technologies, oversee patenting and licensing strategies, and facilitate spin-offs and collaborations with industry partners. Your efforts will ensure that A*STAR's research outputs achieve maximum societal and economic impact.
Key Responsibilities: You will lead a team of business development professionals, set strategic direction for tech transfer, manage a portfolio of projects, and represent A*STAR in external forums. You will work closely with researchers to understand their innovations and craft go-to-market strategies. You will also negotiate complex agreements, manage stakeholder relationships, and contribute to policy development in support of innovation ecosystems.

- Lead technology commercialization efforts for a portfolio of MedTech innovations, including IP management, licensing, and spin-offs.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to forge strategic partnerships with industry players, healthcare institutions, and investors.
- Manage a team of tech-biz development professionals, providing mentorship and performance guidance.
- Identify and evaluate market opportunities, conduct competitive analysis, and develop go-to-market plans.
- Negotiate and structure complex collaboration agreements, licensing deals, and research contracts.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including researchers, industry leaders, and government agencies.
- Represent A*STAR at international conferences, trade shows, and industry events to promote MedTech capabilities.
- Contribute to strategic planning and policy development to enhance the innovation ecosystem.
Kualifikasi
- PhD, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in technology transfer, business development, or corporate venturing in MedTech or biomedical sciences.
- Proven track record of successfully commercializing technologies and negotiating licensing agreements.
- Strong understanding of the medical device and digital health landscape, including regulatory pathways and market access.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on emerging trends.
- Experience working in a research institute or academic setting is an advantage.
