Plasmotech Batam, a distinguished leader in the precision plastic injection molding industry, is seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Tooling Engineer to join our technical team based in Batam, Kepulauan Riau.
This is a hands-on, critical role where you will directly influence the efficiency and quality of our manufacturing output. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle management of our molds and tooling assets. Your primary focus will be supporting the design and fabrication of new, high-precision injection molds, while meticulously maintaining and optimizing our existing production tooling. We are looking for a proactive engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor.
As an integral part of our engineering department, you will collaborate closely with the Tooling Manager, Process Engineers, and Production teams. Your daily activities will involve troubleshooting molding defects, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. You will take ownership of maintenance schedules, manage spare parts inventories, and coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs. This role provides excellent exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies, including CNC, EDM, and high-precision measurement equipment.

Tanggung Jawab
- Support the design, development, and fabrication of new injection molds and tooling, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and project timelines.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for mold defects, process issues, and product non-conformities.
- Develop and execute comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all production molds to maximize tool life and reduce downtime.
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize molding processes, improve cycle times, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Manage tooling documentation, including mold histories, modification records, spare part catalogs, and maintenance logs.
- Coordinate with external tool rooms and suppliers for mold repairs, modifications, and new tool construction, ensuring quality standards and delivery schedules are met.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and process standardization within the tooling department.
- Enforce and comply with all company safety policies, quality management systems (ISO), and environmental regulations.
Kualifikasi
- Diploma (D3) or Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Tool & Die Engineering.
- Minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in tooling engineering or mold maintenance within the plastic injection molding industry. Fresh graduates with strong internships are considered.
- Solid understanding of mold construction, steel grades, heat treatment, and manufacturing processes (CNC Milling, EDM, Wirecut, Surface Grinding).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software is required (SolidWorks, Mastercam, or Siemens NX).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Good command of English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and spoken).
- Willing to be based full-time in Batam, Kepulauan Riau.
