Scanmar Maritime Services is a premier maritime manning agency providing skilled crew for a wide array of vessels including bulk carriers, container ships, general cargo, passenger, reefer, ro-ro, chemical, product and oil tankers, and more. We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced Chief Engineer for a two-month contract on a reefer vessel.
As the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall management of the engine department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all machinery, including critical refrigeration systems essential for transporting perishable cargo. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and environmental compliance.

Tanggung Jawab
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all engine room machinery and equipment, with special emphasis on reefer (refrigeration) systems.
- Lead and manage the engineering team, delegating tasks and ensuring adherence to planned maintenance schedules.
- Monitor fuel consumption, optimize engine performance, and maintain accurate engineering logs and records.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, classification society rules, and company policies, including safety and environmental standards.
- Supervise all repair and maintenance works, ordering necessary spare parts and materials within budget.
- Coordinate with the Captain and other departments to ensure seamless vessel operations and cargo care.
- Conduct regular inspections, drills, and training for the engineering crew to maintain high safety standards.
Kualifikasi
- Valid Chief Engineer License (Class 1 or equivalent) issued by a recognized maritime administration.
- Minimum of five years’ experience as an Engineer Officer, with at least two years as Chief Engineer on similar vessels (reefer experience preferred).
- Comprehensive knowledge of refrigeration systems and cargo handling equipment on reefer vessels.
- All valid STCW certificates (Basic Safety, Advanced Firefighting, Medical First Aid, etc.).
- Experience with planned maintenance systems (PMS) and engine room resource management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic operational demands.
- Valid Medical Certificate for sea service.
