The National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a visionary and experienced Curator or Senior Curator to lead the stewardship and development of our South & South-East Asian Collections. As a premier academic and cultural institution, NUS is committed to advancing the study and appreciation of the diverse artistic and cultural heritage of the region.
In this role, you will be responsible for the intellectual oversight, growth, and public engagement of our world-class collections. You will work closely with faculty, researchers, and global cultural partners to develop high-impact exhibitions and scholarly publications that bridge the gap between academic research and public discourse. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert with a deep passion for preservation, provenance research, and innovative storytelling in a museum or academic environment.
Tanggung Jawab
- Develop and execute long-term strategies for the acquisition, documentation, and preservation of South & South-East Asian artifacts and artworks.
- Curate compelling exhibitions that leverage the collection to drive academic inquiry and public interest.
- Conduct rigorous provenance research and ensure ethical compliance in all collection management activities.
- Collaborate with academic departments to integrate collection objects into university teaching and research programs.
- Manage the logistics of traveling exhibitions, loans, and international cultural partnerships.
- Author high-quality scholarly catalogs, exhibition texts, and digital content for a diverse audience.
- Represent NUS at international symposia, conferences, and professional networks related to Asian art and history.
Kualifikasi
- Master’s degree or PhD in Art History, Museum Studies, Asian Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of professional experience in a curatorial role within a museum, archive, or research institution.
- Demonstrable expertise in the material culture, history, or art of South and South-East Asia.
- Proven track record of managing significant collections and delivering successful public-facing exhibitions.
- Strong publication record and ability to communicate complex research to broad audiences.
- Proficiency in relevant languages (e.g., Hindi, Sanskrit, Malay, or other regional languages) is highly desirable.
- Exceptional project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary university environment.
