SMRT Trains, a leading operator of Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, is seeking an experienced Executive / Senior Engineer, Rolling Stock Engineering to join our team at the Bishan Depot. This is a critical role focused on ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance for our train fleet.
About the Role
As a key member of the Rolling Stock Engineering department, you will take ownership of complex technical challenges. You will be responsible for providing robust engineering solutions to reliability problems affecting our fleet of trains, locomotives, and associated equipment. Your analytical expertise will drive root cause analysis, failure investigations, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. You will work closely with maintenance, operations, and external vendors to enhance fleet performance and asset lifecycle.

You will be expected to take a leading role in engineering investigations, reliability improvements, technical modifications, and ensuring safety compliance. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the daily lives of millions and work on cutting-edge railway technology.
Tanggung Jawab
- Lead detailed engineering investigations into rolling stock failures and performance deviations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and execute reliability improvement programmes using RAMS, FMECA, and statistical analysis methods.
- Manage technical modification proposals (TMPs), upgrades, and retrofits for rolling stock systems.
- Provide advanced technical guidance and support to maintenance and depot teams on complex repairs and troubleshooting.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards (e.g., ISO 55000) and regulatory requirements set by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation for management review and regulatory submission.
- Manage contracts and coordinate effectively with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and external suppliers.
- Drive obsolescence management, lifecycle cost analysis, and strategic asset renewal planning.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering from a recognised university.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in rolling stock, automotive, heavy equipment, or aerospace engineering.
- Strong in-depth knowledge of train systems such as propulsion, brakes, HVAC, train control, and auxiliary systems.
- Proven proficiency in failure analysis, root cause analysis, and reliability engineering principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Familiarity with international RAMS standards (EN 50126 / IEC 62278) is highly desirable.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is a strong advantage.
- Proven team player with the ability to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.
