Head of Build – Lead the Infrastructure for ASEAN Payments
We are searching for an exceptional Head of Build to take the helm of our platform construction in Malaysia. This is a career-defining opportunity to lead a greenfield build of a mission-critical, high-throughput payment system from the ground up. You will architect, build, and scale the technical backbone for seamless, instant, and secure financial transactions.
As the Head of Build, you will provide strong technical leadership, overseeing a distributed team of engineers, architects, and DevOps specialists. You will work in close partnership with central banks, financial institutions, and technology partners to ensure the platform is robust, secure, and compliant with international standards (ISO 20022, PCI DSS). Your strategic vision will directly influence the speed, reliability, and accessibility of financial services across the entire ASEAN region.
We are looking for a leader with deep expertise in cloud-native architectures (AWS/GCP/Azure), microservices, real-time data processing, and payment systems. You will drive the adoption of Agile and DevOps practices, manage a significant budget, and build a high-performance engineering culture. Tanggung Jawab
- Lead the end-to-end build strategy, architecture, and delivery of the Nexus cross-border real-time payment platform.
- Build, mentor, and scale a world-class engineering team comprising software developers, system architects, DevOps engineers, and QA experts.
- Define technical standards, technology stacks, and ensure alignment with global payment standards like ISO 20022.
- Drive a culture of engineering excellence, operational stability, and security, ensuring PCI DSS and local regulatory compliance (BNM guidelines).
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders from PayNet, NETS, central banks, and partner financial institutions to align on technical integration and strategic goals.
- Manage the technical roadmap, project timelines, and resource allocation to deliver against aggressive milestones.
- Oversee vendor selection and management, negotiating contracts and ensuring third-party deliverables meet strict performance criteria.
- Champion Agile and DevOps methodologies to accelerate deployment cycles and improve system resilience and observability.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Head of Engineering, Director of Technology, VP of Platform).
- Extensive experience in the payments or financial services industry, specifically with real-time payment systems, card schemes, or clearing infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in architecting cloud-native, highly available, and low-latency distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices and regulatory standards (PCI DSS, PSD2, BNM/RBA guidelines).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, lead, and inspire teams of highly technical individuals.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Malay, Mandarin, or other ASEAN languages is an advantage.
