The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented Kafka Engineer to take ownership of our Kafka Platform Service (KPS) within our IT Operations Middleware team. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for Kafka, ZooKeeper, and the Confluent ecosystem.
Your Impact
You will be responsible for the lifecycle management of our Kafka clusters, ensuring they meet demanding SLAs for performance and availability. You will architect solutions, automate repetitive tasks, and provide expert guidance to engineering teams on best practices for data streaming. Your work will ensure the seamless flow of real-time data across our global operations, from trade processing to client reporting.
What We're Looking For
We need an engineer with deep hands-on experience in administering Apache Kafka in a critical production environment. You are proficient in scripting (Python, Bash), comfortable with Linux, and have experience with configuration management tools (Ansible). Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana is essential. You are a strong problem solver who can work independently and as part of a global team.

Tanggung Jawab
- Administer and support the enterprise Kafka Platform Service (KPS), ensuring optimal uptime and performance.
- Perform installation, configuration, and upgrades of Confluent Kafka clusters across multiple environments.
- Monitor cluster health, broker performance, and consumer lag using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Confluent Control Center.
- Implement and manage Kafka security features including SSL/TLS, SASL, and ACLs.
- Develop automation scripts and playbooks (Python, Ansible) for provisioning, deployment, and maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with development teams to design efficient data pipelines, topics, partitions, and schema governance.
- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning to scale the platform efficiently.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide critical production support and incident resolution.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT operations or infrastructure engineering, with at least 3+ years specifically managing Apache Kafka/Kafka clusters in production.
- Expert knowledge of Kafka internals (brokers, topics, partitions, replication, ISR, consumer groups).
- Strong experience with the Confluent platform, including Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, ksqlDB, and Control Center.
- Solid Linux system administration skills and proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python).
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools (Ansible).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and version control (Git).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Kafka certification (Confluent or Cloudera) is a strong plus.
