Ateneo de Manila University, a premier Catholic institution of higher learning in Asia, invites applications for the role of Librarian III - Photoduplication Section Head at the prestigious Rizal Library. This strategic leadership position is responsible for the overall management, direction, and innovation of the Photoduplication Section.
The Section Head will develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the digitization, microfilming, photocopying, and photography of library materials. This includes setting priorities for the conversion of physical collections to digital formats, ensuring strict adherence to national and international standards for digital preservation and access, and managing copyright clearance processes. The role requires a strong understanding of the evolving landscape of academic publishing and scholarly communication.
You will supervise a team of professional and support staff, conducting performance evaluations, identifying training needs, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Strategic planning and budget management are key components, as is the responsibility for selecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting specialized imaging and reproduction equipment.
Collaboration is critical in this role. You will liaise with the University Archives, the Cataloging Department, and the Information Technology Services to ensure seamless integration of digital assets into the Library's systems and discovery platforms. The Photoduplication Head also serves as a point of contact for external researchers and institutions seeking reproduction services.

Tanggung Jawab
- Set the strategic direction for the Photoduplication Section, aligning goals with the Rizal Library's mission and the University's academic priorities.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the section, ensuring efficient delivery of digitization, photocopying, microfilming, and photography services.
- Develop, implement, and enforce policies for digital preservation, metadata standards, and copyright compliance in all reproduction activities.
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate section staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and high-quality service.
- Manage the section budget, including procurement of specialized equipment, software, and supplies required for imaging and reproduction.
- Collaborate closely with the Archives, Cataloging, and IT departments to prioritize and execute digitization projects for rare, fragile, and high-demand materials.
- Monitor emerging technologies and industry best practices to continually enhance the section's capabilities and efficiency.
- Prepare and present regular reports on section performance, resource utilization, and project progress to Library administration.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science (BLIS) or a closely related field is required.
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) is highly preferred.
- At least three (3) to five (5) years of progressive professional experience in an academic library, with significant experience in a photoduplication, digitization, or preservation unit.
- Demonstrated supervisory or management experience is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of digital imaging standards (e.g., FADGI, METAMORFOZE), file formats, and digital preservation workflows.
- Strong understanding of Philippine copyright law, intellectual property rights, and fair use guidelines relevant to library reproduction services.
- Excellent project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Eligibility or willingness to acquire Civil Service Professional eligibility (RA 1080) for Librarian III is an advantage.
