R&D / Product DVL Engineer II (Sustaining Engineering) – Perai, Penang
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented R&D / Product Development Engineer II to join a dynamic global team within the Digital Data & Networks (DDN) Business Unit, based in Perai, Penang. This role is critical to the success of our high-speed data connectivity product lines, serving the rapidly growing data center and enterprise networking markets.
As a Sustaining Engineer, you will be the technical backbone for existing products, ensuring they continue to meet rigorous quality, cost, and performance benchmarks throughout their lifecycle. You will tackle complex engineering challenges, lead design changes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives such as VAVE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) to enhance product competitiveness.
Working in a global matrix environment, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Field Application Engineering. Your insights will be vital in resolving customer issues, optimizing manufacturing yields, and ensuring seamless New Product Introductions (NPI).

Tanggung Jawab
- Provide sustaining engineering leadership for existing product lines within the Data & Networks business unit, ensuring product integrity and customer satisfaction.
- Lead engineering investigations and root cause analysis for product failures, implementing robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Drive value engineering (VAVE) and cost-out projects to optimize product cost, quality, and manufacturing throughput.
- Manage the full Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, coordinating cross-functional approvals and implementation timelines across global sites.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by providing manufacturing and sustaining input during the early design phases to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Develop and execute product validation plans, including signal integrity, mechanical, and environmental testing per Telcordia, IEC, and customer-specific standards.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including product specifications, detailed drawings, assembly procedures, and FMEAs.
- Provide advanced technical support to customers, global sales teams, and field application engineers to resolve complex application issues.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in R&D, Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering within the connector, electronics, or telecommunications industry.
- Strong understanding of high-speed signal integrity principles and mechanical design fundamentals (tolerance analysis, material properties).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo Parametric highly preferred) and PLM systems (such as Windchill).
- Demonstrated experience with structured problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, DMAIC, Shainin, or Kepner-Tregoe.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required; proficiency in an additional Asian language (e.g., Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia) is a strong advantage for regional collaboration.
