We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) to drive groundbreaking research in sustainable construction materials.
This position focuses on the cutting-edge field of carbon materials enhanced concrete. You will investigate the application of various advanced carbon formsâincluding graphene, carbon nanotubes, and biocharâto significantly improve the mechanical performance, durability, and functional properties of concrete while reducing its carbon footprint.
As a key member of our research team, you will design and execute experiments, characterize novel materials using state-of-the-art facilities, and develop scalable solutions for the construction industry. You will collaborate with leading academics, researchers, and industry partners to translate laboratory discoveries into real-world impact. Tanggung Jawab
- Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments integrating carbon materials into concrete mixtures.
- Conduct advanced characterization of raw materials and hardened concrete using SEM, TGA, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
- Analyze experimental data, optimize mix designs, and develop predictive models for material performance.
- Prepare high-quality research manuscripts for publication in top-tier international journals.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students on related research projects.
- Manage laboratory inventory, procurement, and ensure compliance with environmental health and safety standards.
- Present research findings at internal meetings, international conferences, and to industrial collaborators.
- Contribute to the preparation of research proposals and grant applications for continued funding.
Kualifikasi
- PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong expertise in concrete technology, cement chemistry, and hydration kinetics.
- Hands-on experience with the synthesis, dispersion, and application of carbon nanomaterials (graphene, CNTs, carbon black, biochar).
- Proficiency in characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, TGA, FTIR, and mechanical testing (compression, flexure).
- Excellent track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
