Join the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) as a Research Engineer or Senior Research Engineer in FAB System & Automation, based in Singapore. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize automation solutions for advanced wafer fab environments, leveraging cuttingâedge IoT platforms and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) integrations.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, data scientists, and domain experts to deliver scalable, highâperformance automation frameworks that improve yield, reduce cycle time, and support the next generation of semiconductor devices. Your work will involve prototyping smart sensor networks, designing realâtime control algorithms, and implementing secure data pipelines that connect equipment, processes, and enterprise systems.

Tanggung Jawab
- Lead endâtoâend automation projects for 300mm/200mm wafer fabrication lines, from concept through deployment.
- Architect and implement IoTâbased monitoring solutions using edge devices, gateways, and cloud services.
- Integrate MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Applied Materials FAB300) to enable realâtime recipe management and lot tracking.
- Develop dataâdriven models and analytics dashboards to support predictive maintenance and yield improvement.
- Design and document software modules, control logic, and interface specifications following industry standards (SEMI, IEC).
- Conduct handsâon testing, validation, and troubleshooting of automation systems in a cleanroom environment.
- Collaborate with crossâfunctional teams to define requirements, project milestones, and success metrics.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to proposals, technical reports, and peerâreviewed publications.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or related discipline; PhD is a plus.
- Proven experience (3+ years for Engineer, 6+ years for Senior) in semiconductor manufacturing, FAB automation, or industrial control systems.
- Handsâon expertise with IoT protocols (MQTT, OPCâUA), industrial Ethernet (EtherCAT, PROFINET), and realâtime operating systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or Java; experience with PLC programming (IEC 61131â3) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with MES architectures and data models (e.g., SECS/GEM, SEMI E87/E90).
- Demonstrated ability to analyse large datasets, develop machineâlearning models, and visualize insights.
- Excellent problemâsolving, communication, and projectâmanagement skills.
- Eligibility to work in Singapore; prior experience in a research or academic setting is desirable.
