Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join our prestigious engineering faculty. This role focuses on the critical domain of fire safety, specifically investigating the thermal dynamics and combustion characteristics of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Power Assisted Bicycles (PABs).

As a Research Fellow, you will leverage advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools, primarily OpenFOAM, to develop, validate, and refine fire simulation models. Your research will play a pivotal role in shaping safety standards and informing future engineering solutions for sustainable transportation. You will work within a collaborative, world-class research environment, engaging with multidisciplinary teams to solve real-world challenges in thermal science and fire engineering.

Tanggung Jawab

  • Develop and execute high-fidelity fire simulation models using OpenFOAM to analyze battery thermal runaway and combustion.
  • Conduct rigorous computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis for EVs and PABs in diverse environmental scenarios.
  • Perform data validation by comparing simulation outputs with experimental fire test results.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators to author high-quality research papers and technical reports for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research findings at international conferences and internal academic seminars.
  • Mentor junior researchers and students in simulation techniques and experimental protocols.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and project proposals related to fire safety engineering.

Kualifikasi

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven hands-on experience (1+ years) in utilizing OpenFOAM for complex fluid dynamics and combustion modeling.
  • Strong background in fire dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB for post-processing and model customization.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish high-quality research in reputable academic journals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous approach to data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a multicultural, academic team environment.
