Join the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) as a Scientist or Senior Scientist within the Fusion Energy Advanced Tokamak (FEAT) Programme. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the development of future fusion power plants by pioneering microwave diagnostics that monitor and control fusion plasmas in state‑of‑the‑art tokamak devices.
Working at the forefront of plasma physics research, you will design, commission and operate diagnostic systems, analyse complex plasma data, and collaborate with international partners to translate experimental findings into practical fusion solutions. The FEAT Programme is committed to delivering high‑impact science that supports Singapore’s ambition to become a hub for clean energy innovation.
Tanggung Jawab
- Lead the design, installation and validation of microwave diagnostic hardware for tokamak experiments.
- Develop advanced data acquisition and processing pipelines using Python, MATLAB and custom software.
- Interpret plasma behavior and provide actionable insights to improve confinement and stability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, theorists, and international research institutions.
- Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to proposal writing for funding opportunities.
Kualifikasi
- Ph.D. in Physics, Plasma Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience with microwave or RF diagnostics in laboratory or fusion environments.
- Strong background in plasma physics, including tokamak operation and control.
- Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, MATLAB, C++ or equivalent).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast‑paced research setting.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and outreach.
- Experience with international collaborations and large‑scale experimental facilities is advantageous.
