Coherent Corp., a global leader in optical communications and laser technology, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior NPI Product Engineer to join our world-class operations team in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. This is a pivotal role where you will be the primary technical authority driving the successful transfer of cutting-edge transceiver products from the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase into stable, high-volume mass production.
In this critical position, you will bridge the gap between our advanced R&D teams and high-volume manufacturing operations, ensuring seamless scalability, cost-effectiveness, and uncompromising world-class quality. As a Senior Engineer, you will take full ownership of complex product transfers, proactively resolve unexpected technical challenges during the launch phase, and optimize manufacturing processes for maximum efficiency and yield. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Operations to establish robust manufacturing protocols, conduct rigorous first-article testing, and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Your technical expertise and leadership will directly impact the speed-to-market, profitability, and long-term success of Coherent's innovative product portfolio.
Tanggung Jawab
- Lead the seamless technical transfer and successful ramp-up of new transceiver products from the NPI phase into fully capable high-volume mass production.
- Act as the primary technical interface and bridge between R&D, Product Management, and Manufacturing teams throughout the entire product launch cycle.
- Develop, validate, and continuously optimize manufacturing processes, test fixtures, and assembly procedures to ensure exceptional first-pass yield and product quality.
- Prepare and meticulously maintain comprehensive product engineering documentation, including detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs), process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and control plans.
- Drive rapid root cause analysis and implement robust corrective actions for complex technical issues observed during early production and pilot runs.
- Establish, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production yield, cycle time, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to guarantee production readiness.
- Champion cost reduction initiatives through design for manufacturability (DFM) and process improvements without compromising quality or reliability.
- Collaborate with the global quality team to define stringent inspection criteria and ensure rigorous adherence to ISO 9001, TL 9000, and other relevant industry standards.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in NPI, Process Engineering, or Product Engineering within a high-volume electronics, semiconductor, or optoelectronics manufacturing environment.
- Proven and demonstrable experience in the successful transfer and launch of transceiver or optical module products is a significant advantage.
- Deep understanding of SMT manufacturing processes, optical alignment techniques, precision calibration, and automated test systems.
- Strong proficiency in statistical data analysis and problem-solving methodologies (including Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, SPC, CP/CPK, DOE, 8D, and FMEA).
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple complex priorities, cross-functional dependencies, and aggressive program timelines.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective influence and collaboration across diverse global teams.
- Hands-on working experience with ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) and disciplined engineering change management processes.
