Celestica is a global leader in design, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions, and we are currently looking for a high-caliber Senior Optical Design Engineer to join our Hardware Platform Solutions (HPS) division in Bayan Lepas, Penang. In this strategic role, you will be a key contributor to the development of next-generation optical systems integrated into high-performance switch platforms that power the world's most advanced data centers and cloud networks.
As a Senior Engineer, you will bridge the gap between theoretical optical physics and practical hardware implementation. You will be responsible for the entire optical design cycle, from conceptualizing architecture and performing rigorous simulations to overseeing the validation of prototypes. This position requires a deep understanding of photonics, high-speed signal integrity, and the mechanical constraints of modern networking hardware.

Tanggung Jawab
- Lead the optical system architecture design for high-density networking switch platforms.
- Execute complex optical modeling and simulations using tools such as Zemax OpticStudio, Code V, or Lumerical.
- Optimize fiber optic interconnects, transceivers, and photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for maximum performance.
- Perform comprehensive tolerance analysis, including thermal and mechanical stability assessments for optical assemblies.
- Collaborate closely with PCB layout and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration of optical components into hardware.
- Manage technical relationships with global optical component vendors and conduct rigorous technology evaluations.
- Develop and execute detailed test plans for the validation and characterization of optical subsystems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff within the HPS department.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 6-10 years of professional experience in optical design, preferably within the telecommunications or networking industry.
- Expert-level proficiency in optical simulation software (Zemax, Code V, or RSoft).
- Strong knowledge of high-speed fiber optics, laser diodes (VCSEL/DFB), and photodetectors.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment including optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and bit error rate testers (BERT).
- Familiarity with industry standards for optical modules (e.g., QSFP, OSFP, SFP-DD).
- Proven track record of taking complex hardware products from design concept to mass production.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective global collaboration.
