Are you a visionary engineer passionate about pushing the boundaries of industrial automation? The Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), a research institute under A*STAR, is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join our elite Optics & Imaging Systems team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing next-generation computer vision and automated optical inspection (AOI) solutions that transform manufacturing capabilities.
You will collaborate with world-class scientists and industry partners to solve complex challenges in defect detection, precision measurement, and real-time imaging systems. Tanggung Jawab
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced machine vision algorithms for automated manufacturing inspection.
- Design, prototype, and optimize hardware-software integrated vision systems, including camera selection, lens configuration, and lighting setups.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven image processing pipelines into real-time production lines.
- Conduct high-impact research to improve the accuracy, speed, and robustness of defect detection in complex industrial materials.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and research assistants.
- Translate cutting-edge research outcomes into scalable, industry-ready prototypes.
- Publish research findings in top-tier journals and represent the institute at international technical conferences.
Kualifikasi
- Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in machine vision, image processing, or applied optical systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB for vision algorithm development.
- Hands-on experience with OpenCV, HALCON, Cognex VisionPro, or similar industrial vision platforms.
- Deep understanding of classical computer vision techniques and modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Proven track record of delivering technical projects from concept to deployment.
- Strong analytical mindset and excellent communication skills for stakeholder management.
