Join A*STAR SIMTech as a Senior Research Engineer
We are seeking an innovative and motivated Senior Research Engineer to join our cutting-edge materials research and development team at the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), a research institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). In this role, you will contribute to pioneering R&D in advanced materials and forming technologies, supporting diverse sectors including electronics, automotive, aerospace, and biomedical. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop next-generation forming processes that drive industry transformation.
As a key member of the Materials, Chemicals & Foundry (MCF) division, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing research projects, from laboratory-scale experiments to industrial-scale prototypes. Your work will directly impact the adoption of sustainable and efficient manufacturing solutions in Singapore’s vibrant industrial landscape.

Tanggung Jawab
- Design and develop innovative forming technologies for advanced materials, including metal forming, polymer processing, and composite fabrication.
- Lead and manage research projects, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and high-quality outcomes.
- Conduct experiments, analyze data, and optimize processes to achieve material property and performance targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including material scientists, mechanical engineers, and industrial partners, to translate research into practical solutions.
- Author technical reports, research papers, and present findings at conferences and internal reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in materials science and manufacturing technologies to propose new research directions.
Kualifikasi
- PhD or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in materials processing, forming technologies, or manufacturing R&D.
- Strong knowledge of metal, polymer, or composite forming processes such as extrusion, forging, injection molding, or additive manufacturing.
- Proven track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and/or patents.
- Proficiency in computational tools for process simulation and material characterization (e.g., FEA, SEM, XRD).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Good communication and presentation skills in English.
- Experience in project management and collaboration with industry partners is advantageous.
