Shape the Future of Ageing Research at NUS
The National University of Singapore (NUS), a globally renowned institution at the forefront of research and education, invites applications for the position of Senior Scientific Manager (NIRBA). Singapore is rapidly becoming a global hub for biomedical innovation, and NUS is driving this transformation. The NUS Initiative on Research and Innovation in Bioengineering and Ageing (NIRBA) is a key strategic program aimed at tackling one of the most pressing challenges of our time: healthy longevity.
In this capacity, you will serve as the chief operating and scientific officer for the initiative. You will be entrusted with developing and implementing the scientific vision, directing the core research facilities, and mentoring a dynamic team of researchers. Your leadership will be essential in translating fundamental discoveries in bioengineering into tangible clinical solutions that improve the quality of life for the elderly.

Tanggung Jawab
- Provide strategic scientific leadership and operational management for the NIRBA program and its core facilities.
- Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary research projects, ensuring milestones, budgets, and deliverables are met.
- Identify and pursue major grant funding opportunities, leading the preparation of complex grant applications and progress reports.
- Manage the daily operations of research laboratories, ensuring compliance with NUS safety, biosafety, and ethical standards.
- Foster and manage strategic collaborations with academic departments, hospitals (e.g., NUHS), and industry partners across Singapore and globally.
- Mentor and supervise a team of research scientists, engineers, and administrative staff, promoting professional development and a culture of excellence.
- Monitor emerging trends in bioengineering and ageing research to inform the strategic roadmap of NIRBA.
- Represent NIRBA at international conferences, symposia, and high-level stakeholder meetings.
Kualifikasi
- PhD in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a closely related discipline from a reputable university.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive post-PhD experience in research management within a university, research institute, or biotech environment.
- A strong track record of securing competitive research grants (e.g., NMRC, A*STAR, MOE Tier 2/3) and managing significant research budgets.
- Proven experience in leading large, interdisciplinary research teams and managing high-performance core facilities.
- Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, evidenced by a strong portfolio of publications, reports, and successful grant applications.
- Deep understanding of the regulatory landscape for biomedical research and clinical translation in Singapore.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups.
