The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) invites applications for a visionary Senior Scientist to join the Division of Manufacturing Data and Digitalisation (DMD) within the Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS) Group at the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech).
In this pivotal role, you will pioneer groundbreaking Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovations that directly transform the manufacturing landscape, ensuring global competitive advantage for Singapore's industry partners. You will be at the forefront of integrating intelligent automation into next-generation factories, working with cutting-edge Digital Twins, predictive analytics, and process optimization technologies.
As a key leader in the CPPS Group, you will formulate and execute ambitious research strategies. Your work will involve designing novel Deep Learning architectures for advanced defect detection, reinforcement learning for dynamic production scheduling, and generative models for design optimization. You will bridge the gap between fundamental research and practical industrial deployment, ensuring tangible impact on the manufacturing sector.

- Lead and execute high-impact research projects in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Computer Vision for advanced manufacturing applications.
- Design, develop, and deploy AI models for predictive maintenance, defect detection, process optimization, and supply chain analytics.
- Develop and implement Digital Twin solutions for Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS).
- Publish research findings in top-tier international journals and conferences, contributing to A*STAR's scientific leadership.
- Secure competitive research grants through proposal writing and collaboration with industry and academic partners.
- Mentor and supervise Research Engineers, PhD students, and interns within the group.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to translate research into deployable manufacturing solutions.
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap of the DMD Division and CPPS Group, identifying emerging trends and technologies.
Kualifikasi
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated track record of high-quality research as evidenced by publications in top-tier journals (e.g., IEEE TPAMI, IJCV, NeurIPS, ICML) and conferences.
- Deep expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and their application to manufacturing problems (e.g., anomaly detection, reinforcement learning, time-series forecasting, computer vision).
- Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Experience with MLOps, cloud computing (AWS/Azure/GCP), and big data technologies (Spark, SQL) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead collaborative research projects.
- Experience in writing research grants and managing projects is a strong plus.
