Codespa Foundation Philippines, a leading international development organization dedicated to creating sustainable livelihoods and promoting inclusive rural development, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant to lead the establishment of a Demo Farm and oversee Bio-Input Technology Testing in Surigao del Sur, Caraga region.
This critical role focuses on the practical application of research into seaweed-based bio-inputs. You will be the technical expert driving the entire cycle from research and field trials to farmer training, quality assurance, and the development of widespread adoption strategies. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute directly to the resilience and productivity of coastal farming communities in the Philippines.
As the Consultant, you will work closely with local government units (LGUs), research partners, and farming communities to set up a fully functional demonstration farm. This platform will serve as a living laboratory for testing and validating the efficacy of various seaweed-based biofertilizers and biostimulants. You will ensure rigorous scientific protocols are followed, provide hands-on training to local farmers, and develop robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
We are looking for an expert who can bridge the gap between laboratory science and practical field application. Tanggung Jawab
- Lead the end-to-end establishment and operationalization of the Demo Farm site in Surigao del Sur.
- Design, implement, and monitor rigorous field trials for seaweed-based bio-input technologies (biofertilizers, biostimulants).
- Provide technical expertise and quality assurance for the production and application of bio-inputs.
- Develop and deliver hands-on training programs, including Farmer Field Schools (FFS), to local farmers and extension workers.
- Create comprehensive adoption strategies to ensure widespread uptake of validated technologies.
- Establish monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track impact, yield improvements, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Coordinate effectively with local government units (LGUs), Department of Agriculture (DA), academic institutions, and community stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations on project progress and findings.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Marine Biology, Biology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in agricultural extension services, bio-input development, or on-farm research management.
- Proven track record in establishing and managing successful field demonstration farms.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in seaweed farming and/or marine biotechnology.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting field trials and statistical analysis of agricultural data.
- Excellent facilitation and training skills, particularly with rural farming communities.
- Familiarity with Philippine organic agriculture standards and bio-input regulatory framework (e.g., FPA, BPI).
- Excellent command of English and Filipino (Cebuano/Surigaonon is a strong advantage). Willingness to be field-based in remote areas.
