Career Opportunity: Site Inspector of Works (IOW)

In this critical role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive monitoring of construction activities at our site in Permatang Tinggi, Penang. You will ensure that all structural, architectural, and M&E works are executed precisely according to approved specifications, drawings, and contractual requirements. Your expertise will be instrumental in conducting thorough daily inspections, identifying non-conformances, and enforcing strict quality control measures. You will also be required to maintain accurate site records, prepare detailed inspection reports, and coordinate closely with consultants, contractors, and the project management team to resolve technical issues efficiently.
The ideal candidate is a certified professional with substantial experience in ground-up building projects. You possess a deep understanding of construction methodologies, local by-laws, and safety regulations. A strong sense of integrity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential. While the primary work location is Penang, flexibility to travel to project sites in Kuala Lumpur as needed is expected.

Tanggung Jawab
- Conduct daily on-site inspections to ensure compliance with approved architectural, structural, and M&E drawings, specifications, and materials schedules.
- Monitor construction processes and workmanship quality, identifying defects, deviations, or non-conformances and issuing Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs).
- Verify that all materials delivered to site meet the required project standards and approved samples before installation.
- Coordinate with contractors, sub-contractors, and consultants to resolve site issues, technical queries, and method statements.
- Maintain comprehensive daily site records, progress reports, inspection logs, and photographic documentation for project records.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and site rules, participating in safety audits.
- Witness and sign off on critical structural works and testing protocols (e.g., concrete cube tests, pile integrity tests).
- Review and verify contractor progress claims against completed work to support accurate project valuation.
Kualifikasi
- Possess a Diploma or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or a related discipline.
- Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Graduate Engineer or registered with LAM as an Inspector of Works (IOW).
- Minimum of 5 years of proven working experience as an Inspector of Works or Site Supervisor on large-scale building projects (high-rise residential/commercial preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., PWD 203A, CIDB), local building codes, and safety regulations (OSHA).
- Excellent analytical skills with a meticulous eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings with high proficiency.
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin or other dialects is an added advantage.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with project management software.
