Job Overview
The Insurance Verification and Authorization Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of verifying patient insurance eligibility and securing medical authorizations. You will ensure that the team adheres to strict compliance standards, maintains high-quality service levels, and efficiently manages the workflow during the night shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and lead a team of insurance verification specialists to ensure optimal performance and morale.
- Review and approve authorization requests and insurance verifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor team KPIs, including call handling time, accuracy rates, and first-call resolution.
- Handle escalated patient inquiries and complex authorization cases with professionalism.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and company data security policies.
- Conduct daily shift briefings and performance reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the healthcare clients to resolve authorization denials and process issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare administration, medical billing, or insurance verification.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience is required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and insurance authorization workflows.
- Ability to work effectively in a night shift environment (10:00 PM – 7:00 AM or similar rotating schedule).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
